OSTOMY PASTE SKIN SEALANT PROTECTION
Gemmy Medical’s Ostomy Paste is a professional-grade, alcohol-free hydrocolloid-based paste specifically formulated to fill skin creases, folds, scars, and uneven peristomal surfaces around the stoma. By creating a smooth, level skin surface before baseplate application, it dramatically reduces the risk of output undermining the skin barrier — preventing leaks, protecting peristomal skin, and extending wear time.
✦ How It Works
Applied directly to skin creases and uneven areas before placing the skin barrier wafer, the paste fills irregular surfaces to create a flat, smooth foundation — eliminating gaps through which output can track and cause leakage.
- Fills skin folds, creases, scars, and depressions around the stoma
- Creates a smooth, level surface for optimal wafer adhesion
- Seals the junction between the stoma and the skin barrier
- Prevents output from undermining the skin barrier edge
- Supports peristomal skin healing by keeping output away from damaged skin
✦ Key Features
Alcohol-Free Formula
Gentle on sensitive and compromised peristomal skin — no stinging, burning, or irritation upon application, even on broken or denuded skin.
Hydrocolloid-Based
Compatible with all major hydrocolloid skin barrier systems. Integrates seamlessly with the wafer adhesive for a unified, leak-resistant seal.
Flexible & Moldable
Soft, pliable consistency allows easy application and shaping to fill any contour, crease, or irregular surface around the stoma with precision.
Extends Wear Time
Improves the integrity of the skin barrier seal, helping extend baseplate wear time — reducing the frequency of system changes and associated costs.
Compatible with All Ostomy Systems
Suitable for use with one-piece and two-piece colostomy, ileostomy, and urostomy systems from all major brands.
✦ Available Sizes
Standard: 60 g (2.1 oz) | Large: 120 g (4.2 oz) | Travel: 30 g (1.0 oz)
✦ When to Use
- Peristomal skin with creases, folds, or scars preventing a flat wafer seal
- Flush or retracted stomas where output pools at the skin surface
- Recurrent leakage under the skin barrier edge
- Irregular abdominal contours near the navel, belt line, or surgical scars
- Para-stomal hernia causing skin surface irregularities
- Newly formed stomas with swelling and changing contours
- Peristomal skin breakdown requiring output isolation for healing
✦ How to Apply
- Cleanse and thoroughly dry the peristomal skin before application.
- Identify skin creases, folds, or uneven areas around the stoma.
- Apply a thin bead of paste directly into creases using the precision nozzle tip.
- Smooth gently with a moistened gloved finger to fill the contour evenly.
- Allow to set for 30–60 seconds until slightly tacky.
- Apply stoma powder over paste if skin is moist, then brush off excess.
- Place the skin barrier wafer over the paste-filled area, pressing firmly from center outward.
- Hold in place for 60 seconds using hand warmth to activate the adhesive bond.
For medical use. Always follow the guidance of a qualified stoma care nurse or healthcare professional when managing peristomal skin complications. Individual results may vary.
